Design and Color Options
The Velotric T1 ST E-Bike boasts a sleek and minimalist design that exudes sophistication. With two separate color models to choose from, the bike allows you to pick your preferred style. If you want more options, Velotric offers an additional color option on their website, giving you the freedom to match your personal taste.
Performance and Comfort
The pedal assist, especially in Turbo mode, offers significant power and performance, making uphill climbs and long rides a breeze. The bike boasts a top speed of 20 miles per hour and an impressive range of up to 52 miles on a single charge, making it suitable for daily commutes and longer rides alike.
The custom seat on the T1 ST provides a reasonably comfortable experience. However, some riders may prefer a slightly wider seat for improved comfort during longer rides.
Size Options
The bike comes in two size options, Small and Medium, ensuring a suitable fit for a wide range of riders. Velotric recommends the Small size for individuals between 5 feet 1 inch and 5 feet 8 inches, while the Medium size is ideal for riders ranging from 5 feet 5 inches to 6 feet.
Motor and Transmission
At the heart of the T1 ST, there’s a 350-watt rear hub motor, developed in-house by Velotric, which sets it apart from many other e-bike manufacturers in this price range. The motor provides smooth and powerful assistance while pedaling. Complementing the motor, the bike features a reliable Shimano 8-speed transmission with an Altus derailleur, ensuring smooth and efficient gear shifts for a good-performing ride.
Braking System
The T1 ST comes equipped with a dependable Tektro 2-piston brake system with a 160-millimeter rotor in both the front and rear wheels. This braking setup ensures confident and responsive braking, providing riders with a sense of security during emergency stops or when navigating challenging terrains.
During brake tests, the T1 ST performed admirably with its Tektro brake system. The brake levers provided easy engagement, delivering smooth and controlled stops without sudden jerks or delays, ensuring riders feel confident and safe while on the road.
Pedal Assist and Control
The bike offers five levels of pedal assist – Eco, Touring, Normal, Sport, and Turbo. Each mode has a distinct color indication, making it easy to switch between them. The pedal assist levels can be adjusted using a controller located conveniently on the handlebar. Additionally, there is a torque sensor that ensures the pedal assistance is intuitive and responsive to the rider’s effort.
The T1 ST is classified as a Class 1 e-bike, meaning it does not have a throttle and the motor only activates while pedaling. This design adheres to regulations in certain regions and ensures a more engaging and efficient riding experience. Additionally, the bike is equipped with puncture-resistant tires that are 700 millimeters wide. These tires not only add a touch of style to the bike’s profile but also provide added protection against punctures, ensuring a smoother and worry-free riding experience.
Theft Protection and Find My Feature
The e-bike comes with an Apple Find My feature built-in, enabling easy tracking and locating of the bike in case of theft. Android users may miss out on this feature, but if Velotric were to offer a similar solution for Android devices, it would enhance the bike’s security and appeal to a broader audience.
Velotric offers a phone mount option, allowing riders to securely place their phones in front of them for easy navigation through unfamiliar routes, enhancing convenience and safety during rides.
Moreover, the bike features a battery-operated backlight, activated manually using a button. Additionally, the backlight has a light sensor that automatically turns on the light when riding in low-light conditions, enhancing safety during nighttime rides.
Battery Integration and Capacity
The T1 ST impressively integrates a 36 Volt, 9.8 amp hour battery into its slim frame. The battery features high-quality 21700 Samsung cells, contributing to its impressive range and overall performance. Though not explicitly removable, the presence of screws and a lid indicates the possibility of accessing the battery for maintenance if needed.
Wrapping up
So that was pretty much everything about the T1ST. We were delighted with its innovative features, sleek design, powerful performance, and overall riding experience. As a newer e-bike rider, my experience with the Velotric T1 ST was nothing short of thrilling. Its lightweight design, powerful pedal assist, and impressive battery capacity made it a great choice for both daily commutes and recreational rides. Nevertheless, we believe there is always room for improvement. For instance, the anti-theft functions could have been more versatile for Android users, the seat could be wider, and the rear light could have been automated. Despite these little details, we are confident that the Velotric T1 ST will be a good option for cyclists looking for a sleek, and powerful e-bike!
